Responsible Digital Citizens ....
Well, the 8th and 6th graders each played KAHOOT. Fifth grade will be playing tomorrow. It was lots of fun with the kids picking their own player name. We had some very original names. I love it we they assume their gaming identity. The game became a bit lively with the lead changing multiple times. In the game the students answer questions. Points are awarded for both accuracy and expediency. Remember these two classes have my very own children in the classroom. The KAHOOT quiz was over how well you know your teacher. I would have thought my own children could win this one. The winners included GleeforLife (6th) and BMW <3 (8th), neither of which are my children. I am still contemplating how I feel about this. There is a possibility the 5th grade winner could be from the same household. If this happens we may have to do a kid swap, because they obviously know me better than my own. The 8th graders like KAHOOT so much they used KAHOOT to test their knowledge of web browsers after a short lecture.
The 5th, 6th and 8th graders wrapped up their Animoto Who am I videos. I loved seeing what all the students shared about themselves. Some of the videos, especially for 8th grade, were so true to the personality of the student even down to the music. We passed the videos on the homeroom teachers and parents, so we will see how well they do identifying which video goes with which student. Our next focus is to use various web browsers and understand how to browse the internet safely.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd learned the rules of the classroom and what was expected of them. Each class did a great job. This week will be taking a virtual field trip to a Museum of Modern Art and the San Diego Zoo. Our 3rd and 4th graders were introduced to personal and private information. We are going to further explore how information can spread far and fast on the internet by playing games using Digital Passport.
Thank you for allowing me to teach your children. They are so much fun!!
