6th grade learned some valuable lessons regarding saving information. Poetry Anthologies were due in Mrs. Simpson's class and several students lost all their information after working an hour on them. It is a painful lesson they will most likely never forget. We decided to spend some time last week on file management to better understand drives, folders, files and data. We all understand a city map. Using our knowledge of a city map, we were able to better grasp the concept of drives, files and folders on the computer as we equated each of the items to our city map. While 6th grade was focused on file management, 8th graders were busy creating a persuasive presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint to sell their position on whether Greenville Christian should or should not adopt a Bring Your Own Device Policy. This is currently NOT under consideration by Greenville Christian, however it was a topic of interest to the students and information that can be valuable at a later date. 2nd graders were so excited to move to learning Microsoft Word. They felt so big getting to work in the same tools the older students are using. They loved playing with the colors, sizes and font styles. Now that they have been introduced to Microsoft Word, next week we begin diving into a few more of the details with typing sentences using capitalization and punctuation.
